Competition: The importance of technological progress
Write a one-page essay on the importance of technological progress
Many noble ideals and visions are as old as humanity. Technology is what makes them possible. What are the most important areas where human progress is needed? What could be the most effective ways to reach progress in those areas? Which areas are the most neglected?
Please read the essay by Balaji Srinivasan titled The Purpose of Technology. Further research some ideas that caught your attention. And write a short, max 1 page, essay and also add a picture/artwork that illustrates the importance of technological progress. It can be your own photography or animation, or some picture found on the internet and adjusted with tools like Deep Dream Generator. Please respect the copyright and don’t use already existing texts or artwork as your own.
Who can apply?
Anyone with a twitter handle. You can choose the amount of information you disclose about yourself. Our team has experience with supporting student startups and early stage businesses in rural areas and small towns of Kenya. But our target audience is global. Anyone interested in technological progress can apply.
What to submit?
A relevant brief essay on technological progress (max one page). For example, published on a blogging platform like Substack.com

When to submit?
The first round of competition is planned by 30 June 2022. We might prolong the deadline if needed.
All participants will be awarded NFTs using the Solana blockchain. We will contact you to help you receive the NFTs (if you don’t have Solana wallet yet) and also send you some Wezesha Coins (WEZ).
The best 10 submissions will also receive the equivalent of $10 in SOL and 2,000 Kenyan Shillings through M-Pesa (in case the submission comes from Kenya). We will create a “book deck” publication promoting the authors, and help the 20 best authors put their submissions as NFTs on Solsea.
Our team will make the selection. Based on these criteria:
Form: originality, eloquence, memorability
Content: The understanding of the importance of technological progress and how the most important, solvable and neglected problems can be solved with technology.
How will we use the submissions?
We will retweet the 20 best submissions and create a “book deck” publication out of them, referencing your twitter handle as an author. We will also help the 20 best authors to put their submissions on Solsea as NFTs and link to their submissions as NFTs in the “book deck” publication.
